At last year’s AEW Awards, Kenny Omega was the singles competitor who took home the most awards: 2. Omega won the award for Biggest WTF Moment after winning the AEW World Championship at Winter is Coming and walking out. His second was earned as a member of The Elite. Santana and Ortiz would earn the most awards as a team (3 total) for their Parking Lot Brawl against Best Friends and 2 as members of the Inner Circle.

The AEW Awards will begin streaming at 7 pm ET on the AEW YouTube channel. The awards will be hosted by The Men of the Year (TNT Champion Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page), Dr. Britt Baker DMD, and Tony Schiavone. For weeks, fans have been able to cast their votes on the AEW Awards website to select who they think is the most deserving in each of the 12 categories. The Men of the Year are nominated for their assault on Darby Allin in the Biggest Beatdown category. Baker has racked up an impressive 6 nominations for Best Moment on the Mic, Best Twitter Follow, Biggest Beatdown, Best AEW Fashion Moment, Best Mic Duel, and Wrestler of the Year.
This will be Baker and Schiavone’s second year hosting the AEW Awards. At last year’s ceremony, Baker was nominated for 4 Awards, but was not voted to take any of them home by fans. Given the exceptional year she has had and the growing admiration many fans have for her, Baker has the potential to rack up big this year. Baker is coming off of her unsuccessful AEW Women’s World Championship defense where Thunder Rosa defeated her in a steel cage. Rosa’s win put an end to Baker’s 290-day reign as champion.
The YouTube ceremony will be followed by AEW Dynamite on TBS. The broadcast will feature CM Punk for the first time following his Dog Collar Match with MJF at Revolution, as well as MJF following the attack he led on Wardlow last week. The Hardy Boyz, Sting, and Darby Allin will take on Private Party, The Butcher, and The Blade in an 8-Man Tornado Tag Match, and the recently formed Jericho Appreciations Society’s Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia will take on The Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds.
AEW President Tony Khan has also announced that Dynamite’s card will include matches between Ring of Honor alumni Jay Lethal and Adam Cole. Red Velvet and “Legit” Leyla Hirsch will continue their rivalry, this time, with Kris Statlander banned from ringside. Finally, Khan announced that the Varsity Blonds will take on Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson, who appeared to take interest in Wheeler Yuta last week. Tonight’s broadcast might offer clarification on Yuta’s status with Moxley and Danielson, and the moment may become a nominee at next year’s AEW Awards.
Winners of the AEW Awards will be announced on March 23, 2022, on YouTube.
