The Saskatoon SPCA posted its findings on Facebook. It stated that it reviewed the video evidence of Alinity’s alleged cruelty to her animals, inspected her home, and conducted an interview with Alinity herself. The SPCA determined that there was “no malicious intent” in any of the incidents and that Alinity “expressed genuine remorse for her actions.” The SPCA also examined Alinity’s animals and determined that they were all “in good health and had friendly dispositions.”

The SPCA added that the actions in the videos were “not malicious in nature” and that Alinity had been “educated” about how to be a responsible pet owner.

The Alinity animal cruelty situation sparked quite the controversy on Twitch, even prompting a response from Twitch’s director of creative development, who described the incidents as “very upsetting.” Many were calling for Twitch to ban Alinity from the streaming platform, with a petition to ban Alinity from Twitch amassing over 32,000 signatures and counting.

It was unlikely that Twitch was ever going to ban Alinity anyway, but now that the Saskatoon SPCA has completed its investigation and found no malicious intent, it’s even less likely. After all, some will see this as Alinity’s name being cleared, and it’s quite possible that the demand to have her banned will lessen in the coming days.

While Alinity throwing her cat sparked the initial controversy, a clip of Alinity tricking her cat into licking vodka off her lips is what seems to have made most people upset. Alcohol is highly toxic to cats, and many online expressed concern for her animals’ safety. It’s unclear if those same individuals will feel relieved now that the SPCA has completed its investigation.
