The report, citing unnamed sources, noted the more likely scenario is Rodriguez’s departure will come this winter even though he’s guaranteed $21 million for 2017.
“I hope not,” Rodriguez told the Daily News, referring to a possible early departure. “I want to play and think I can make a difference on the field and in the clubhouse.”
A-Rod is muddling through a difficult season with a .253 on-base percentage and just 29 RBIs.
